How to deal with ENLARGED facial PORES?

Five Step-by-Step Directions for Dealing with the Most Common Complication of Successful Acne Treatment

Even if you have been following any ordinary anti-acne care program with good success, chances are you are left with a problem that anything less than the best skin products and programs won’t address, enlarged pores. Treatments that work well to get rid of blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples can still leave unsightly reminders on newly clear skin that seem to scream “Acne was here!

Enlarged pores, which are more common in women, are best treated by following regular skin routines combined with the right acne product.

Enlarged pores tend to be worse in women than in men. They are more noticeable and severe in adult acne than in acne in teens. Growing skin tends to erase enlarged pores all on its own, but any over the age of 25 is likely to need a little cosmetic help to get past the problem.

The good news about dealing with one of acne’s most persistent side effects is that you don’t have to diet to get rid of enlarged pores. There are no odd foods you have to eat. There are no delicious foods that are prohibited for you.

A simple combination of the right home skin health routines and the right acne products is the most effective solution for getting rid of enlarged pores for good. If you follow these simple steps, it will only be a day or two before you see the great complexion you have been working so hard to achieve. Treat these five steps as your map to success over enlarged pores.

Step 1. Wash your skin with the right cleanser.

It’s no secret. Soap and water are often the best cleansers for normal healthy skin. If you have enlarged pores, however, you will get better results if you use a cleanser that is right for your skin type.

Oily skin. Many cleansers contain oil and vitamin E, which is great for your skin—unless it’s oily. You don’t want to add oil to oily skin! Oily skin needs simple skin cleansers. The lipid cleansers many companies make for removing makeup leave a residue on oily skin. You probably don’t need them. If you have oily skin, take the time to find simple products that contain a minimum of oil to dissolve the excess oil on your skin so you can wash dirt away.

Dry skin. The lipid cleansers that are not recommended for oily skin are exactly what is needed for taking makeup off dry skin. These products will smooth over enlarged pores so they disappear under makeup. Oil and vitamin E in your facial cleansers are fine year-round if you have dry skin.

Sensitive skin. If you have skin that breaks out easily, or if you tend to get skin allergies, you have sensitive skin. People who have sensitive skin need to avoid any product that contains scents, essential oils, or fragrances. These are major causes of new skin irritation. Men who have sensitive skin need to consider products like neem or tea tree oil that prevent ingrown whiskers and razor burn.

Step 2. Check to make sure you aren’t using a form of cleanser that can harm your skin.

Many acne cleansers include a mild exfoliant, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulfur. These chemicals are added to peel away tiny, almost invisible flakes of dead skin that otherwise might flop around and block pores. The products are OK for oily skin, but people who have dry or sensitive skin do better avoiding them. (is it both people with sensitive skin and dry skin that should stay away from bp, sa, and s?)

Other acne cleansers contain abrasive particles that are advertised for “unplugging” pores. If you have enlarged pores, you don’t need these products. Your enlarged pores have already been unplugged. Using abrasives on skin that has enlarged pores will just injure the walls of pores—and make them red as well as enlarged.

Polyethylene beads are bad, but aluminum oxide and ground fruit pits and nut shells, found in “natural dermabrasion” scrubs, are even worse. Ironically, these scrubs can make it even harder to get rid of enlarged pores because they thicken the skin. If you feel you just have to use a face scrub, look for the ingredient sodium tetraborate decahydrate, once upon a time known as Mule Team soap.

Even better, just say no to facial scrubs. They are a leading cause of damage to pores!

Step 3. Wash your skin the right way.

When you are 13, 14, 15, or 16 years old, your skin tends to forgive you when you rub it the wrong way. Teenagers can get away with scrubbing their faces with washcloths and harsh soaps—although they can avoid years of problems later if they just follow the good cleansing habits that are also best for adults.

Adults with acne, however, do better if they don't copy the skin care habits they followed in their youth. Adults simply have to follow the rights steps for daily skin cleansing:
*** Wash your hands before you wash your face. Apply cleanser to your face with clean fingertips. Allow 15 to 30 seconds for penetration that lifts and separates dirt, debris, and oil.
*** Wash the skin on your face, and anywhere on your body, with warm water, not hot or cold. Hot water makes enlarged pores even bigger, and cold water can trap those little bits of dirt that look like blackheads, but really aren’t, in the pores you have worked so hard to heal.
*** Pat your skin dry. Don't rub it dry. And be sure to use a clean towel every time.

Washing your skin by this procedure is good no matter what your age, and there is a simple way to avoid damaging your pores—don’t leave any cleanser on your skin for too long.

The reason for this recommendation is that the surface of your skin is naturally slightly acidic. Soaps are naturally slightly alkaline. Leaving a cleanser on your skin for, say, 2 to 3 minutes or more begins to interfere with the natural healing action of the antioxidants your skin needs to stay wrinkle-free. And you really don’t want to replace acne with wrinkles.

Step 3. If you moisturize—and most people who have acne need to—think twilight.

We don’t really mean to suggest you need to follow the skin care routines of the stars of Twilight fame, but rather that you don’t want to moisturize too much, or too often. Moisturizer should be reserved for when you really need it.

Even acne sufferers who have oily skin can need moisturizer. If you stay cooped up in a house with a fireplace or forced air heating system all winter, or if you live in a place that has hot, dry summers, moisturizing prevents the skin damage that inevitably leads back to more blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. You just don’t want to put too much moisture in your skin.
Timing makes a difference. If you moisturize just in the evening, or just before going to bed, or just before you go out for the evening, you won’t be filling up enlarged pores with moisture. If you moisturize morning, noon, and night, too, your pores will show it. (is moisture in enlarged pores good or bad? I can’t really tell from this paragraph.)
There are two exceptions to this rule. If you have not just enlarged pores but also acne scars, you may want to use collagen products that put moisture on the skin without putting moisture in it. The cosmetic effect of these products goes away just as soon as you wash them off, but they are a great cover-up while you are reducing acne scars.
Also, it’s not unusual for a woman to find that her skin gets drier with hormonal changes. Anytime the skin starts to lose its matte, or it gets just a little rough even with the use of makeup, more moisturizer may help.

Step 5. Don’t buy acne “products.” Buy acne systems.

In 2010, there is no shortage of acne information. There are literally thousands of acne products available at your nearby cosmetic counter or supermarket, or at much more reasonable prices over the Internet.
Each month there are at least 100 new formal product reviews for acne skin care. We can give you a hundred rules and link you to a hundred articles to tell you how to control acne on your face and on your body with good results.
But why try to follow long lists of rules about acne treatments? You can save time and money, and it’s just a whole lot easier, to get all your acne treatment in one place. There are lots of products that get lousy results, but acne sufferers are universally pleased with the widely recommended Acnezine and Exposed. Take a look at these top products today and you will find the system that will work for you.

MEDICUBE Zero Pore Pad review is here!!! #updated 12/2017

Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog.

In this article, I am going to share my review for MEDICUBE Zero Pore Pad. :)

I believe people with PORES issue will always notice Pore Solutions products, just like me😆😊

Whenever a product says anything about pore tightening/reduction/minimizing, pore cleansing, pore covering, non-pore-clogging, large pores, and etc, WE ARE ALWAYS on the hunt because we just can't seem to be able to find the Right product to solves our pore issues. Right girls/guys? 👻

I am sorry girls and boys/ladies and gentlemen/uncles and aunties, before I talk about the product, we need to have a better understanding of WHY we have pores issues. So, I'm going to give a 2-3minutes lecture depending on your reading speed. If you are slow, then it will be 10 minutes. HAHA! Joking! 😅

There are many reasons why one can have pore issues and these are the most common reasons as below:

  • Acne scars - Understandable people with this type of skin will have large pores on their face if they do not take good care after each and every facial treatment.
  • Saggy skin - As you grow older, the production of collagen will reduce/slow down in our body. Thus, it reduced elasticity in your skin. E.g. If you have small pores, but as you get older, your skin starts to drop/attracted to the floor, so it kind of drags your skin down and made your small pores become big pores.
  • Weather - Living in a humid/sunny country will also cause open pores mainly because of overexposure to the sun.
  • Inappropriate way of face washing - Have you heard about people telling you to wash your face with room temperature water/cold water? Well. Washing your face with warm water is joyful but it does enlarge your pores in a way. However, washing your face with cold water helps to tighten or close up the pores.
  • High levels of oil (sebum) production - This type of skin is similar to acne scars, but with excessive oil production on your skin. So, as your skin produces too much oil to keep your skin moisturize, it actually blocks the hair follicles, then you have to go for facial treatment to get them extracted. THEN, you will have pore issue.
  • Thick hair follicles - By having thick hair follicles it blocks your body to do its job. Which is to bring the natural skin oil to the skin surface to keep your skin moisturized. So, when you have thick hair follicles, it naturally blocks the oil from coming out if it is too much of them. Finally, you have to get facial treatment and get them extracted. THEN, you will have pore issue.

So, if you have saggy skin, I will not recommend you to buy this product because in my opinion, I think it is suitable for younger people. My guess is around 18 years old - 25/26/27 years old.

NOW, let's continue with the product. The MEDICUDE Zero Pore Pad looks like this as attached below.. In one tube, there are 70 pieces of facial cotton soak with medical benefits solutions. Each facial cotton has two different texture, Silky and Embossed side. The Silky side is said for the purpose of moisturizing skin, manage skin texture and smooth skin for soft texture. While the Embossed side is for skin exfoliating(to remove dead skin/impurities) and remove/reduce excess oil on our skin.

The descriptions for its effects are

Use it twice a day, after washing your face in the morning and night. It is safe and suitable for daily use.

👉Finally, here it comes MY REVIEW💋

I was definitely very excited when I first got the product because "as usual", people spammed the whole internet commenting how goddess is this product. XD

So I bought the products online. At that time, it cost me about SGD50-60 for 3. Although buying online does not guarantee the authenticity of the products, but surely buying online can saved a few dollars in your pocket and sometimes accompanied with online stores vouchers or discounts! 😇

I am sorry my fellow followers, I do not have pictures. So, I'm gonna explain in plain words.

I tried using the product day and night for about 2 weeks. On the first few days, I can feel my skin is tighten even on the first day. However, about two weeks later I don't seem to see much difference and at times my skin grow pimples/acnes still. I am unsure wether the product is MAINLY only suitable for people targeting pores problem WITHOUT pimples/acne prone skin or this product does triggered my skin to grow pimples/acnes. :(

Also, in my opinion, the different sides does not make much difference, perhaps it is just a gimmick, because all of the facial cottons are soak in the same tube with the same solutions, I do not think applying or changing sides will make much difference. If it really wants to make huge difference, I think they should be packed under different packaging(if they want to do Embossed side for skin exfoliate and Silky side for soft skin) to concentrate on each side. Just my opinion :)

I continued using but its doesn't really turns out as what I expected. Perhaps it has something to do with the weather(humid) that I'm living in. Unlike the origin country of the product - Korea, their weather is dry and cold(4 seasons and it is not as bad as the place I stay which is humid ALL YEAR ROUND) even on their normal days are not as humid/bad as my country. I am pretty envy for them :S

So, I am not saying the product doesn't work. I am saying it is not working for me, probably because of the weather and perhaps it is too strong for my skin. I have combination normal to oily skin.

Anyway, thanks for reading people! I hope it helps.

4 days 3 nights at Hong Kong (4D3N)

"Give me a break!"

So, we decided to take a short getaway in June 2017 to HK.
It's a long weekend because Hari Raya Puasa is on Monday. We bought Cathay Pacific air tickets as it is reliable and there's a free 30kg check-in luggage included in the air ticket. It was about SGD1.2k which I think is acceptable for non-budget airlines and considering the comfort, space, environment on plan and etc. I think it is acceptable because we were going to travel in the following week. Like some other non-budget airlines, the air tickets can go real expensive. Another thing is, we could have gotten a cheaper rate if we were to book the air tickets 14 days in advance with Cathay Pacific. That is because they have an existing offer for HK trip as low as half of the normal price with American Express purchases if I am not mistaken. Lessons learned! Overall the airline experience was very good since it's under Singapore Airline.
So, if you're interested in taking Cathay Pacific Airlines, why not keep an eye on their updated promotions and subscribe for their news. All you have to do is to make sure you booked your last minute trip 14 days in advance. Half price and nothing to lose.(the offer may vary from time to time)

My previous HK trip was for business purposes. This time is a trip with my partner, so we have some homework need to work on. :) The main purpose for us to go HK is to visit HK Disneyland, The Big Buddha, foods and etc.

Here's our itinerary for you to get some ideas.

Relevant tickets to be prepared

  •  Return Airport Express Train Tickets with 3 days unlimited MTR card

We selected Round Trip + 3 Day Pass
Meaning 1 round trip of Airport Express and Unlimited 3 days pass of MTR use /pax.
We have compare the separated price of
(Round trip airport express for 2 pax, Octopus MTR card for 2 pax),
and come to a conclusion to buy this package $61/pax.
Since we were going to travel quite a few destination
by taking MTR these 3 days,
to be honest the unlimited 3 days pass is quite satisfying.
Even sometimes, you can scanned the card for free
to enter into the MTR washroom. Which pretty annoying that we couldnt
find the washroom outside MTR border. =.= Luckily I have unlimited card!
GOing IN and OUT like a BOOOSS~ ahaha

  •  Return Peak Tram Tickets

We bought Roundtrip Peal Tram Sky Pass (Fast Track) $17 each

22 June 2017, Thursday

Upon arriving at the HKIA, we came out at Arrival Hall B. First thing to do is to redeem the Airport Express Tickets and we were told to walk over to Arrival Hall A, which is the other end. You do not want to approach those big counters because they will ask you to go for the small counter which specifically handle cases like us. You also can refer to the printed voucher, you need to go to counter A13 to redeem. We walked all the way to Arrival Hall A because the counter is just right in front of it.

When you reach the counter, they will ask which station you will be aligning (Tsing Yi Stn, Hong Kong Stn or Kowloon Stn).
Since we are staying in Butterfly on Prat Tsim Sha Tsui, we chose to align at Kowloon Stn as the Shuttle Bus drop off point Park Hotel is nearer to our Butterfly Hotel instead of Tsim Sha Tsui Stn. Therefore, we are to stop at Kowloon Stn from the Airport and take Shuttle Bus K4 once we reached Kowloon Stn(look for "free shuttle bus" signboard.

The shuttle bus comes only every 15 minutes. We take the bus around 1pm on Thursday's afternoon, the traffic was fine. We only need about 15 - 20 minutes to reach Park Hotel. Once we are at Park Hotel, we need to walk for a short distance to reach hotel either following the green lines or purple. As you can see in the picture. On your last day in Hong Kong, you just need to walk back to the original place where they drop you off and wait for the shuttle bus. They have timing for this, you might want to double check their timing of free shuttle bus. If you do not wish to take shuttle bus, you can always take MTR or other transportation. :)

After checked in at the hotel, we went to Harbour City for a walk and shopping. We understand that staying in Tsim Sha Tsui was never a good idea but to save some money and a little bit of walking i think is fine.

After shopping, we went for Peak Tram at Central Stn to assemble with the other Klook buyers. We bought the tickets with tour to guide us to walk to the Peak Tram Terminal. You will receive an sms of which EXIT to meet on your registered mobile phone. In our case, we were told to wait at Central Stn EXIT K. You will be ask to reach there 15 minutes before the departure time as registration and briefings are needed. Following Peak Tram tour is so much easier as it helps to shorten the timing where we follows Google maps and queueing time at Peak Tram Terminal. You will be on the fast lane, you can save a lot of time! You can refer to above attachments on which one to choose! *Peak Tram Tickets

With Klook tour, we were able to get on the tram in just + - 30 minutes!
There was another 5 to 8 times this volume
of people waiting on the opposite rd!

Tell me do you wanna wait for 2 3 hours for 10 minutes ride?
You may choose to go up there by bus or taxi.

Queuing for Tram departure :D

I  strongly suggest you to buy Peak Tram tickets in advance because there can be super crowded and can take hours just to get on the tram and please get a sit in the tram as it can go really steep! We were lucky to see the entire Hong Kong at Sky Terrace. No clouds, everything was clear, windy and peaceful. No rains. Very satisfying view. We went around 5 to 6pm in the evening on Thursday. After that, we went back to hotel, get a quick shower and off to Ladies Market for shopping and dinner. :) Again, to be honest, the ladies market is pretty disappointing, I would suggest you to go to Argyle Centre if you're going Kowloon area. :3 The ladies market has now become very alike, they sells almost the same thing. Waste of time. So you wanna go to those centre instead of Ladies Market.

Kowloon Stn EXIT D Argyle Street

I love cosmetics! XD

23 June 2017, Friday

Went to Luk Yu Teahouse at Stanley St for breakfast. The egg tart was nice. However, we didnt see any dim sum menu. It was not a very pleasant visit, I would rate it ** star only. It looks pretty promising from the website but we did not think so.

We went to Disneyland after the meal. YEY!

Luk Yu Teahouse is in Central Stn. Therefore, we walk to Hong Kong Stn and take MTR to Sunny Bay Stn and transfer to Disneyland Stn.

SIMPLE! It only takes about 15 to 20 minutes :)

If you can wait till 8.30pm that would be great. It is because they have fireworks on every Friday! We had our late lunch at Corner Cafe about 3 or almost 4pm. We could not stand to wait till 8.30pm because were too tired to wait.

The food over here was great. However was a little too salty for us. Overall good experience.

Moving on to Mak's Noodle for dinner at Central Stn. Mak's Noodle is a traditional Cantonese restaurant in Central, Hong Kong, specialising in wonton noodles. The address is at 77 Wellington St, Central. Walking distance from Central Stn. You can alwaus use google map to find the location, it is just across the street. Good wanton mee. Overall ratings is 4 stars for us. Very clear soup with very different texture of noodle. My partner is a Wanton Mee lover, he said it's nothing like in Singapore. He loves it! SO try it!

Then we move back to Hui Lau Shan that is nearby our stay (Butterfly On Prat Hotel). We ordered and durian cheese puff. It was delicious! Wanted to eat the second time on the next day, but we have no time to wait another 10 to 15 minutes for the order! SAD!

24 June 2016, Saturday

Sunny day, no doubt for the Summer Season! The Dimsum restaurant called Maxim is going to be crowded, so we went to the restaurant as early as possible. Go to Central Stn from East Tsim Sha Tsui. If you are staying in East Tsim Sha Tsui, you might want to get out from the hotel as soon as possible as the subway where you will need to walk quit a distance from East Tsim Sha Tsui to Main Tsi Sha Tsui Stn as show in the map.

We took MRT to Central Stn and go out from EXIT E, H or K is the nearest.

Going back to the original EXIT where you came from is easy. Central Star Betting Branch is an underpass where you can avoid the rains/sun by passing through an underground subway to the opposite road(or you can take bridge). You can also refer it as The Hong Kong Jocky Club Off-course Betting Branches. Don't be surprised by the atmosphere because it can get really crowd-y! There are Filipinos(maybe there are others,we dont know) hanging around for their days off along the way. Don't worry they won't do anything crazy to you, they basically just enjoying/wandering(whatever you wanna call it) their weekend just like us wandering in a shopping mall. LOL

So, returning to the original spot is pretty simple. In case, you are not good at memorizing the road.

Once you walk to the opposite road, you can find the nearest MTR EXIT E(right at Bvlgari) or EXIT K(near Starbucks Coffee).

This is how the entrance of the tunnel from the other side looks like. (underground bypass)

Maxim Palace is open at 11am. If you can get real hungry, no worries, you are served right after you enter the hall and sat on your seat. The queue can be quite long even though we reached at 11 am sharp. But HEY! No worries, the place is big enough to fit 20 over tables I guess. It is really big and that's why I see it as a hall. XD The food is great, no regret of spending money there and fantastic experience. Overall 4.5 stars.

After having late breakfast at Maxim Palace, we moved on to Tung Chung Stn by MTR. Free MTR access! :D Again, on Saturday noon it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach Tung Chung MTR. Once you reached, you wanna follow the signboard because it makes your life so much easier! You need to go out from the building and walk to the opposite(no shelter, clear sky, do not turn left of right, just walk straight. Keep your eye on the signboard. It is somewhere in the middle of the building on your right side. Don't be like me! I almost walk past it! Good luck!

We were lucky to buy the tickets in advance/before we are in HK because a lot of people were queueing and LIKE A BOSS, "welcome on board" ! XD I am a very considerate person, I do not want my partner to suffer, therefore we go for STANDARD Cable Car. :) When you purchase the tickets, you have two options to choose either Crystal Cable Car(glass floor) or Standard Cable Car(covered/norm). It was a very satisfying journey on the cable car, where you can see clear skies, wonderful HK view, it was windy and the cable car was indeed strong enough that it does not swing easily when the wind gets crazy.

There were quite a few destination once you reached at the top. All those destinations are free. As we were trying to catch up with our schedule that we are going back tomorrow,Sunday. So, we only manage to go to visits the Big Buddha and went to the temple to pray to gods. Namo Amituofo~~~~

We settle down and took a cable car back to Tung Chung Stn. It happens that we want to shop more because there is this place called CITYGATE OUTLET just outside Tung Chung Stn! XD Few videos will be uploaded here..

After that, we went back to Mongkok Stn. This area is famous for cheaper Adidas Nike products, cosmetics.. etc. They have pretty much shops across the street. It also happens that we saw some old people/entertainers dancing, singing like you're travelling back to the old times! They were indeed interesting, entertaining I would say. haha Therefore, is a MUST place to visit! We love Adidas Nike NB.., cosmetics.. !!!

 25 June 2016, Sunday

Good morning! Packing up out stuffs and went out early for a last minute shopping, especially buying gifts for family~ <3

As in the previous photo, we carry our luggage from Butterfly On Prat Hotel(white blue star) to FREE SHUTTLE BUS K4 area to wait for the shuttle bus. The bus comes every 15 minutes. We took the bus to MTR Kowloon Stn. Guess what? Almost all the airlines has a check in counter in Kowloon Stn! So we went to check in our luggage and took the Airport Express Train(Kowloon Stn) to the Airport without carrying anything with us! How convenient!

After arrived at the HKIA, we went for late lunch and go through custom area. HKIA is very big, they have almost all sorts of foods inside the boarding areas. So, you might want to go through custom first and take your time to eat around that area.

That is all from me. Goodday!
